NYC
I sold my first gen 8GB on Saturday 7/12, in near mint shape, with box, charger, dock & headphones, to CEX, a UK based phone/electronics buyer/seller. They have a shop on Broadway in downtown NYC.

They gave me $380 cash. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered that much. It paid for my 16GB 3G, a dock and some screen protectors.

I had initally planned on selling the phone on Ebay. I figured I might get around $400 for it, but probably not for much more, and then I would have had to pay Ebay and Paypal fees, and deal with shipping.

YMMV. I have no knowledge of CEX's pricing schemes, and make no claims as to what they might pay for YOUR iPhone. I would imagine that at some point the prices will go down. Maybe not.

p.s. 1saleaday.com can take a hike. $200 for an 8GB? Puhleeze.

Thanks for the idea. They're currently offering £148 for an 8GB iPhone whether it is unlocked or not here in the UK. I would probably be happy with that actually, since it will just about cover the cost of me upgrading to a 16GB 3G.

I unlocked my 1st gen 8GB with ZiPhone (so easy a monkey could use) and sold it on eBay for £250 just before the 3G release.

Worth a try for an extra 100 quid?

will they take not 100% functional phones too?

I mean i have an old 8gig phone but the main button has stopped responding...?

i sold my 8gb iphone unlocked and got £300 for it in Feb 08

some of the stuff there is a ripoff and they don't give you good prices for selling
with the £300 i got the ps3 but i plan to sell it soon and keep my xbox 360 elite

I wish apple had some sort of buyback policy for the US.
