So I pulled the trigger and got myself (my first ever) an Apple Watch after owning an Omega Speedmaster and I have to say I love this watch. Yes, it feels more like a wrist computer and is far more powerful than the computers which put man on the Moon but it’s 2020 and that is to be expected. I got the 44mm version in Space Black Stainless Steel and I’m so glad I did. The DLC coating is amazing! I’m just so proud of my shiny new black watch I had to post this. It came to me. My own. My precious 😂 My :apple: Watch.

I sold my Omega Seamaster immediately after getting my Apple Watch. I had planned to occasionally swap between the two, but I knew right away that I didn't want to give up any of my fitness tracking (the three rings, steps, etc.). I told my wife it was with the caveat that I could get another luxury watch in the future, but who am I kidding? 10 years from now an Omega/Rolex, etc. will look essentially the same and do the same things, but a future Apple Watch will have capabilities we can't even imagine.

So glad you are enjoying it. They are a must have once you've owned one. All my other watches now sit in there boxes.

Like the OP, I just got my first Apple Watch on Monday (S3 42mm), and I'm totally amazed by it. I get the same feeling of awe & appreciation as when I saw my first iPod Nano: the combination of hardware & software that results in the final product is pretty awesome.

Yup, I’m the guy that’s gonna be the cynical one. That said, I would never just ‘set aside’, sell or in place of my mechanical watches for the sake of the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch is an amazing device for everything it offers, but in terms of mechanical watches That isn’t composed of silicon and has severe depreciation, my Apple Watch doesn’t hold precedent to my mechanical watches. They both have their place, however; I would never choose my Apple Watch over something that serves a totally different purpose away from a ‘wrist computer‘.

Me too! Quite literally actually. I'm a huge Omega Speedmaster fan with a 44.25mm co-axial Moonwatch and just bought the 44mm AW in space gray aluminum. I had the original AW but found it too intrusive so I went back to my mechanical watch roots. I was using a Fitbit for exercise but didn't like the fit/shape. The Fitbit was also very limited as far as capabilities and I wanted more. Integration with my iPhone is seamless, which is a huge plus as well.

My Omega Speepmaster (Hesalite) is nice and safe in its presentation box. I wanted the one that’s been used on the Moon so I went with Hesalite. It’s never been serviced however it’s only 1 year old but that’s okay. Being able to leave my iPhone at home and not having to carry it and still bring able to text or make a phone call with a watch is something I never dreamed but I’m loving it. Don’t really give a damn about the fitness aspect or sleep tracking or any of that but man wish I had this when I was a kid in the 80’s. All my friends would’ve been jealous. Don’t think I will need another watch except maybe the GPS G-Shock Rangeman which would be nice for going in the woods and still being able to find my way back.
