I don't care if the Apple bubble burst today without the glitz and glam we'd worked ourselves up to expect. Regardless, at the end of the day I still have my iPhone and and my iMac and I love them still very much.

If you've been waiting to buy the iPad or a Macbook, now you don't have to wait anymore.
If you've been waiting to buy the iPad or a netbook, now you don't have to wait anymore.
If you had no intentions to buy the iPad to begin with, then nothings changed.

Hear, hear! Even though much of MR issued a collective groan at Steve's "Apple is a mobile devices company-- that's what we do" comment, Apple still makes full-sized computers, and makes them well. I've had my iMac since late 2007 and still love it, even though it is now two (one a half?) generations behind. Both my nanos are nifty, too.

Sometime in the far future, I may consider an iPad-style product, since my old laptop (circa 2003) is a little long in the tooth, and I'm not so sure about a netbook.

When that time comes, I'll have the choice outlined by the OP.
