2.4 Penryn, 9c67 screen, 4gb RAM. This is my first mac, and I had to go through some hell to get it perfect (2 returns/replacements, swapped the screen myself), and I was wondering to myself if it'd be worth it all in the end, but now I can say that yes, it was definitely worth it!

I am starting to see where Mac users get their sense of superiority and entitlement now. I hate myself for it, but I'm loving it at the same time!

I love mine too. I upgraded mine to 4GB too!

Mine is a 2.4 penryn 4 GB too with a 9c83 screen. No yellowing or anything like that thankfully.

I am so happy with this MBP. I love OS X.

congrats! its just the start of your many MBP 'moments'...

enjoy them, and your machine.

Wirelessly posted (Apple Communication Device: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

I must admit I'm in love as well.

I'm with ya!! I got my MBP 2.4 Penryn 4g ram Multi-Touch a few weeks ago and it's an excellent machine!!! I LOVE APPLE!!! I spend way too much on Apple Products!(iMac Aluminum 20" 2.4 4g ram,iPod Touch 16g, oh, and my trusty Powerbook G4 1.5 ghz 12" Oh well....I'm hooked!:apple::apple::apple::)

MacBook Pro stands to Dell as where Aston Marton DB9 stands to Mercedes SLK.

In other words: MBPro's are just porn. There is really nothing out there I could think of that is prettier than the MB Pro.

No disrespect, but... it's Aston MartIn, altough you being a Dutchman (like me), you should be promoting the all-supreme Spyker cars!

Anyway... Being on Windows machines since Windows 3.1, the macbook pro was like finally everything made sense, in stead of nothing...

I feel what you mean with your supriority feeling, <mr t style>I pity the fools that still use windows...</mr t style>

don't get too comfortable thats about the time the floor starts to crumble beneath your feet.

congrats and goodluck

Cheers

First new Mac in a while...

This baby's replacing my G4 12" after a GFI (Girlfriend Related Incident).
After an argument the G4 ended up in 2 pieces, connected only by the graphics cable & the Airport aerial.
She's a testament to :apple: superiority though, still works with the DVI out cable just fine!

I'm not sure about this whole screen business...
Yellow what? Can't find a serial No. for the panel

i wouldn't have any higher expectations from apple products than I would from Nieman Marcus or Saks....it's only fair given what we are spending typically on average :)

I feel where you are coming from. I had bought one last friday and I had to exchange it a few times (I'm on my third) but the one I have now is perfect...

Hmm...seems that i spoke too soon! I guess I jinxed myself when I made this post. Now I'm having some strange problems with the battery/charger. The green led on the magsafe adapter goes out sometimes, and the mbp will sometimes fail to charge (the charging status will show "not charging"). I've tried two different adapters, both with the same result. Removing the adapter and plugging it back in will sometimes fix it, but man, what a pain!

Hopefully it's just a weird battery issue that I can be fixed with a quick swap and not a logic board problem.

I just replaced my beloved 12" PB G4 867MHz with a new Penryn 15" 2.5GHz MBP glossy. Jut upgraded the memory to 4GB from OWC. It's perfect too. No screen issues (version 9C81). My favorite feature of the 12" PB was the keyboard, so I wanted to get a new MBP now before Apple throws the MB keyboard into the MBP.

Shabbis, can you please comment on two quick things?

1. You said you upgraded to 4GB from "OWC"? What is OWC? How do you do that, and how much does it cost? I'm thinking about upgrading as well from 2GB to 4GB...is it really worth it?

2. Can you please comment on your selecting the "glossy widescreen" instead of the regular widescreen? Pros & Cons?

Thanks so much!!

I just got a MBP too and I LOVE it. Ive never been excited about owning a computer before (as I have between 8 and 12 I really lost count) but this is my first mac and its amazing and I dont see me going back to windows.

As far as ram and glossy vs widescreen get the 4gb. Its useful and cheap ($100 usually). Glossy vs widescreen: Here goes, I have both (my mac is glossy)

Glossy WILL NOT I repeat WILL NOT give you glare issues! Everyone tries to say that because they see glare when the screen is off. When your screen is on you will not see glare. I sit right by a window, no glare when the screen is on. Glossy makes the colors look brighter and the pictures look crisper.

Matte, no real advantage, just a preference. People try and say color correction if you do photography but thats a wash. I calibrate my monitors all the time and some are glossy some are not and all my prints come out looking great.

I would suggest going into a store and looking for yourself if you can because you may want matte over glossy.

I shot myself in the head twice... how could I ever misspell Aston Martin?

Windows 3.1 made sense in all ways...it showed that Microsoft is extremely competent in being incompetent all way through. Look at Vista.. They could've done it right finally.. they didn't.

You should really try googling next time

OWC RAM

They also have benchmark tests for machines with 2gb RAM and 4gb RAM. It'll show you how useful 4gb RAM can be. I upgraded to 4gb RAM from OWC a couple months ago and have had no problems and do not regret it one bit. I feel that overall my programs load faster and respond very well. Definitely upgrade to 4gb if you have the extra hundred bucks.
