I'm running it in 64bit in 32bit kernel on SL. I thought that only the tab would crash and not affect other tabs. I have done it before as in crashed a tab and safari give the message to close that tab without affecting other tabs, but this crashed the entire safari.

So far I've had Safari 4, iTunes 9 and iPhoto 09 crash on me in SL. I'm pretty disappointed but I have reported it to Apple and I'll hope that the next point release improves overall stability so this OS will start to feel like a real upgrade.

Application crashes still do happen. Was there anything specific that makes this an exceptional case?

I understand they will still crash, but apple have done well with the new release this was the first time all the others (which were pretty rare) allowed me to stop that tab only and keep working :D. I only had 3 tabs and clicked the search bar to search it crashed immediately??

All fine now though.
