I seem to struggle with word association problem and linking of words with similar sounds words when I try to play those memory games.

Example dog , leash, sun, sunglasses, key, car, umbrella, rain, beach, water, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouse, keyboard so on.

Other problems I struggle with are synonyms and antonyms.

Example fast, slow, hot, cold, light, dark, big , small, like, dislike, skilled, non skilled so on.

When I'm writing or talking I do not have this problem but when playing those memory games I seem to have this problem.

I seem to also have problem looking at some thing and drawing it or explaining it. I do not remember all the detail. That say their was a picture of kitchen table with apple, oranges, banana, watermelon on the table, dog by the table, blue chair, green table, person sitting down with batman t-shirt, and other person with red t-shirt and carrying a birthday cake with green writing on it.

On recall I will remember very little detail of that picture example may be like kitchen table with apple, banana on the table, dog by the table, person sitting down with batman t-shirt and that is it.

Playing those memory games with words stating with A and words starting with L so on I have problems with those games.

Does anyone here have this problem or know what this disability or disorder could be?

I had similar problems like this when I was in school. And when the teacher in school got me to work on synonyms and antonyms my mind was blank.

But when I talk , write or look at things it just flows no problem but playing those games I seem to have problem.

It also took me longer in school to learn biology, chemistry and computers than other people. I made flash cards and worked on it and it took me longer than other people in school.

Anyone else here have this problem?

If you want a diagnosis and think something is wrong. Talk to a Psychologist or Neurologist. Not sure which would be a better fit. But not a web forum. Better yet talk to a GP first. Then they can make recommendations of which specialist would be best.

I'll just offer some tips:

Perhaps you just need to figure out your best learning style. It wasn't until college that I found mine. I was intelligent and kept getting placed in advanced programs due to high standardized test results but in school I always did horribly. I won't go into my technique. As it works for me and may lead you down the wrong path. Anyways I went from barely making it out of high school. To straight A's in college.

There are learning style assessments such as VARK. Which may help you decide. Although I'm dubious about online test. As they tend to be abbreviated forms of the real tests, don't use the correct Q&A system and are rated by a computer. There's likely learning centers in your area which will give the correct, full tests.

You may also want to take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (the real one not the junk online ones). Not a learning style test per se. But useful in understanding yourself better. Which can help in finding your style. More importantly the kind of career you'll enjoy or hate. The hardest part of this test is answering honestly about yourself. Not what you think the correct answer should be. Self-deception can lead to inaccurate results.

There's also memorization techniques. Such as The Loci Technique, Mnemonics and Chunking. Which one works depends on the person.

Some teachers love these tests. So, you likely have taken them already. Probably a couple times. But just didn't take them seriously or paid attention to the results.

Anyways. There may be nothing wrong. You write clearly enough. It's just you may need to find what's the right fit for you. Once you understand that. Then you can start working on strategies convert information from a style presented to a style you understand. Along with a method for memorization. Long term what degree to go for and careers best for you.

some cant say left while giving directions for someone to turn left, they say right
the human brain is a complex system and functions differently.
too much stress worrying about how ones brains functions will cause more harm than good.
we need to relax and breathe deeper a lot more often, as the meditators do.

I'm wondering if others here have this problem?

Or this is a skill one has to work on? And after month or two and still having problem one should see a doctor?

I have not tried playing any scrabble games or cross word puzzles. But some may have problems at first.

One may want to play those word linking games by sound.

Words starting with L or what ever and not look it up and see as many as you can list. But may be this is typical for the first month or two and after that you play those games it will improves that part of the brain.
