I miss the toughness of steve jobs for new rerelease

The internet and social is many times larger than when the first few iPhones came out. Even Steve wouldn't have been able to stop it.

The product is the product whether we have leaks or not
Is the "thrill" of the surprise really that big of a deal?
I outgrew Christmas morning when I was about 6 years old
To me the important part is the product, not the hype or surprise

With all due respect, why must you rain on the parade? Some people like the surprise. You don't need to insinuate that they have the emotional capacity of a 6 year old.
