I have been looking for a bag for a 17" mbp. I have even *gasp* used the search function extensively.
Both my girlfriend and I need a bag; however out tastes differ. We both prefer messenger bags.

I like simple, minimalist, and preferably leather. (Not too big)

She likes colorful and lots of pockets. (not too big)

Please halp.

this is the best bag you can get from your requirements i think, I have it and it rocks!, super slim profile but can still hold some books/folders and misc accessories. Awesome bag! Anything incase rules so check out their other packs too...

I recommend you go to the shop and try the Belking Sling
17' MBP fits in exactly:D

Get any incase if you want quality and to prevent your laptop from being scratched.

I have this one, its amazing, its got a furry padded area like towel material where the laptop goes to stop it being scratched, its got a lip around the zip to stop the zip scratching the laptop when you zip it up, and the case is fully waterproof, its also got lots of pockets designed for your power adaptor and other bits and pices. And comes in loads of colours :)

and Apple even endorse it by selling it on their site :)

I have a great deal of stuff to carry to work on a normal basis.

1) Soon to be MBP 17" (currently Dell D620)
2) Lunch bag
3) Work shoes (Walk in sneakers, Downtown ATL is not so clean)
4) Camera (Small not to big)
5) Cables, Cables and more Cables
6) Mini Hard drive

I carry all this in my Booq Python Pro, yes its HUGE but for a big guy 6'3 its perfect for my size. I also have plenty of room to spare.

Jeeze and i thought $100 was expensive for a backpack. And u must look like your ready to climb the Andes wearing that thing:D
Ive got a Wenger Carbon backpack. Its really nice has compartments for everything, thick padding for the mac, and looks nice. Its mostly black and i use it with a suit sometimes:p The only problem is that I want to stuff everything i have in there. Like every sound connector, vga cable, iklear, charger, ipod, phone, and lots of other stuff. Then put books in there and it gets a lil heavy

Its big but no bigger than a fully stuffed school pack. Honestly its still not broken in yet since its new so I expect for it too be smaller once it breaks in.

I like the incase sling, but can it be worn like a messenger bag? I have looked at the main manufacturers, (incase, timbuks, booq, rickshaw)

Are there some I am missing? Or am I just not looking thoroughly?

How do timbuk2 bags fair up as a laptop bag? I have a classic messenger bag medium size and I put in my sisters 17inch Hp and it closes. The bag only reaches 1/2-3/4 of the part where it sticks. I can use the locking straps. I prefer the bag sticking the entire way. Since, it's a expensive laptop.

$350 for a damn backpack? That's completely crazy, I don't care what the bag is made of.

I got mine for 325$ but I agree, its a great deal but I had a booq bag before this one and trust me they last. I had one of the old Dell 8500 laptops and it was a beast, it held my laptop and a laptop drive plus two power cables without issues for years until I gave it away.

Biggest problem for me is finding a bag with enough slots to hold everything I need and being able to hold up to my abuse.
