Hey everyone,

So I want to purchase a new MacBook, but I'm trying to decide which one would be best for me.

I use it mainly for e-mail/internet browsing and I play WOW every now and then, also some movie and photo editing.

I'm debating between the MacBook Pro 2016 (no touch bar) and the MacBook Pro 2015

Macbook Pro 2015 2.7GHz Dual-core Intel i5, 8Gb ram, 256GB PCIe-based flash storage, Intel Iris Graphics 6100. Apple refurbished $1189.00

Macbook Pro 2016 2.0GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz, 8GB ram, 256GB Storage, Intel Iris Graphics 540 $1499.00

Which one would be the best choice and why?

Neither is a bad choice, however I'm going to tell you that in my opinion paying the extra $320 for the Skylake CPU, better GPU, faster SSD and faster RAM for the 2016 version will be worth it for you in the long-run.

The 2016 benchmarks better than the 2015, while being more energy efficient with longer battery life. I'm partial to the 2016 version because that's what I bought yesterday and have been using, but smart money goes with the better hardware (even if only slightly better in some areas) if you plan on keeping it long-term.

And a dedicated GPU for gaming would provide a performance boost over the integrated intel GPU.

clear the new one since you need some extra gpu power. That hd 540 is clear faster than last generation

If you're buying new, pay the extra and go for the 2016 model. No point buying the 2015 model new.

Alternatively buy a 2015 used off the likes of eBay, will save you a bundle.

However I belive the entry level 2016 is only a 15W CPU versus the 2015`s 28W CPU and that make s a significant difference. The base 2016 is really a replacement to the Air.

Q-6

Umm so u think the 2015 model would be a bit faster than the 2016 base model?

Yes, as it has the stronger CPU, would be well worth looking at the benchmarks before you decide. Theres all so a lot to be said about buying a Mac at the end of the cycles in general all the kinks have been worked out, 1st Gen`s have been known to be hit & miss, although I do think Apple is getting better with this one.

The new macbook pro is going to be faster overall, especially graphics wise it will run much smoother for playing WOW. If you compare only individual parts to each other, then there will be areas where the 2015 is better.
