My biggest gripe with my Mac is my feeling like a need to go back to a Windows PC environment for certain tasks, that as of yet, I have not found a way to do on my new Mac. This really BOTHERS me.
I want to download video from websites, be it Youtube, or ANY other website that has video, streaming, flash, etc. I used "Internet Download Manager" on my old Windows machine, it was perfect! A little button would appear that said "download" on the upper right corner of any video, I just pressed that button, and the download would begin, it was rather speedy too.
Now I have searched high and low for something similar for my Mac and can't find anything. Some programs will do youtube, but not other sites. Many have a pain in the but procedure of copy and pasting the website URL into a box. Although this isn't a big problem, it still doesn't work for many websites videos. Some of the online software that I've tried, will start to download, but never finish. It will show "4 days remaining" for the download or something ridiculous like that. While my old Internet Download Manager took only 10 minutes, maybe 20-25 minutes for slightly longer videos. Anyway, the download would never finish, just stall at some point and never resume unless I actively re-started the download. In which case it would just stall again 10% or 25% into the download and never complete. Even the download helper plugin for Fierfox is really slow.
I'm comparing all this on the same internet connection as I used before from my own home. I'm also trying to use the same websites as before and while the videos are of varying lengths, it's no different than before.
Is there anything good out there? I'd be happy to pay for the software, but it must work reliably and not take 5 days for a 24 minute video.
Thanks
Scott
