i need a video converter

i just got a mac and am looking for a video converter to converter my avi movies to mp4 for my iphone, do you guys know any goods ones that are free? thanks.

I think iSquint is free, you could check out ffmpegX as well. VisualHub is probably your best bet but it is not free (although worth the cost IMO).

Not the quickest method I know but you could always use iMovie. Just import the AVIs and export the movie

I've been using MPEG Stream Clip for a while now and it works flawlessly. It has loads of options and custom settings to dump out to your favorite codec. Also, don't forget that once you dump out with mpegSC, you can use QT to enhance your settings for optimum iphone/youtube results. Enjoy.
