I need advice on a monitor for my MacBook...

I'm not exactly sure what brands make good monitors, and I'm having trouble choosing one. I would like one between 17" and 19"... My main concern is that it has a small stand so that the screen is as far back as possible. The reasoning for that is because my desk is only 14" in depth, and I don't want the screen to be too close to my eyes. Also, I need to be able to fit an Apple keyboard. I've been looking at LG, HP and Dell monitors because they're in my price range of $200... Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
