My mac air stopped working the other day at 80% battery, just went black and no fan, nothing. mag light was amber. Charged til it was green still nothing, tried smc, pram reset no luck, mag will respond with light change doing a reset. only way the mac will do anything is if i pull the battery connection and plug in mag while i hit power. then just the fan will run, tried smc, pram reset with battery disconected and nothing just shuts down. and if i dont unplug the battery before tring to start, the fan will not run, but i do notice thru the usb that it will show on and off even though the fan, screen, everything is not turning on if i try to start with battery connected. Thank youfor any help

Sorry to hear this, and you've certainly done some good troubleshooting steps. Do you have Applecare for it?

no I bought it at xmas refurbished, their warranty is up, battery seems ok, mag seems ok, thru search im believing logic board just don't know how to easily test that myself. I have the back open and replace back cover when starting to make sure pins are in. there has been zero water damage, all stickers even under battery are white. everything looks clean and didn't see any obvious damage with my jeweler scope. Rrrr was hoping I could figure it out myself. #ifsomeoneelsecandoitican

Time for an appointment at a Genius Bar. They can diagnose it and give you a free estimate for repair. You can then decide if you want to proceed or try it yourself.

Disconnect the battery for 4 to 5 hours. After this, connect the charger but don't touch anything on the keyboard and see if the MacBook powers up on its own. If nothing happens after 2 minutes, remove the magsafe, leave battery disconnected, disconnect trackpad cable from the logic board, connect charger, don't touch any keys, and see if the MacBook powers up on its own.

Third party refurbished I guess? Apple refurbished comes with full year warranty.

Anyway sounds like you've done all the basic diagnostics -- time for Apple to have a look at it.
