I need help connecting my HP printer to my iMac

Hi. I'm new here and new to Mac. I am trying to connect my HP laserJet 6L to my iMac in System X. My printer is not on the list of printers provided in system X. I think I need to download some software for the right driver, but the HP site does not give any Mac operating systems as an option. What should I do? Thanks.

The Gimp 5.0.0 Beta2 driver is listed as working with your printer.It should be listed as a driver in Tiger already.If not here:

I've been using a Laserjet 6L for the last 2 years with no problems with the stock Apple drivers (GIMP). My Laserjet is connected via a DLink ethernet print server as I don't have a parallel port on either of my Macs.
