I need help copying live recordings of my own band from one DVD to another

Just like the title says, I have several DVD's of live performances of my band which I recently paid to have converted from the original VHS. I don't want to lose any more fidelity than I already have (and believe me, these were recorded over the last 15 years, so they are "fun" but they aren't HD Dolby surround, if you catch my meaning. The guy that transferred these from VHS offered to make me additional copies at $18 a pop, which is outrageous, so I decided to do that myself. There is no copy protection and the source is DVD - R.

I am looking for a free and easy solution. My level of technical competence is high, but I am a relatively new mac user.

perhaps you should check out Handbrake. It will rip from DVD to various video formats. http://handbrake.fr/

EDIT: you can also look at BURN. http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html Which also now looks like it may support 1:1 disk duplication as well and is free.
