Im needing to buy a computer before I head to Houston to help out with my company “ insurance “ we are sending teams out to help clean up and such for our members.

So I want a portable computer to go with and I am deciding between MacBook in the I-5 528gb or or the mackbook with the touch bar base. Both of these fit the required budget.

My usage is simple mostly online business “ my work sites” apps and number, word, and keynote. I do limited photo editing also.

Pluse i will use the it for entertainment. I guess that either works and I see my self lending to the touch bar solely due to the gadget and new feel of it. I also think long term it might last longer for my needs as they might grow

Either will be exceptionally over powered for your use. If you value portability, get the rMB. If you want more power, get the MBP. They are designed for different markets, both are portable computers but one is designed specifically to be portable, the other to be carried and used at a desk.

I will use allot connected to external display and used at my office desk every day

Then a MBP would be more suitable. Otherwise you'd need to carry a hub around which would negate any weight benefits. The 13" is super lightweight either way. TB model has 2 extra ports, nTB model only has 2.
