I have a webmaster, he said it was possible for me to set up my Horde webmail account on my iPhone but he has been a little MIA, so besides finding a new guy lol, I need help please setting it up on my phone. It has proven to be somewhat difficult. I have my MAC account & Yahoo going to the phone...no problem.

This is what I have so far:

IMAP Account Information
Name: "SteffiT"
Address: "SteffiT@mydomain.com"
Description: Webmail

Incoming Mail Server
Host Name : "webmail.mydomain.com"
User Name: "SteffiT"
Password: "my password"

Outgoing Mail Server:
SMTP: "smtp.webmail.com"

I need someone to help figure out what to put in all the fields. The "s are not in what I fill in, just to show you. I am clueless

I can access my Horde account through my laptop, in case I need any info off of there. Thank-you!

Hate posting on such a old post, but it appears no one ever answered Steffit's question. I am sure others searching the web will have the same question and I will attempt to answer the below. Hope someone finds it helpful.

SteffiT, certainly you can use your iPhone to "get" your email from your hosting provider.
But you need to understand that Webmail which allows you to read your email using noting but a web browser to connect to a web based email client like Horde, SquirrelMail, RoundCube and other web based email clients.

What you will want to do is set up your email on your iPhone (and iPad) to use POP3 or IMAP (basically POP3 downloads email to your device (or email client) OFF the server, and IMAP allows you to read & send your mail ON THE SERVER).

And from your settings above it appears you where trying to use IMAP.
Keep in mind when setting up email you want to use lowercase (unless you specifically used uppercase when setting up your account).
With MOST hosts your IMAP setting would be something like this (using YOUR settings above that you provided

Incoming Mail Server

Host Name : "webmail.mydomain.com" (This should be mail.mydomain.com)
User Name: "SteffiT" (This should be in most cases the FULL email address SteffiT@mydomain.com)
Password: "my password"

Outgoing Mail Server: (IF you are using cPanel or InterWorx hosting)
SMTP: "smtp.webmail.com" - This should be mail.mydomain.com
YOU MUST AUTHENTICATE otherwise your email will get caught as SPAM or not even allowed to be delivered
SMTP PORT: The standard SMTP PORT is 25, most ISP's will block PORT 25 because of SPAM. Check with your Hosting Provider if you are using their SMTP server to send mail, or your Local ISP if you are using their SMTP server to send mail what the correct SMTP PORT and SETTINGS should be.

Not sure SteffiT will see this since he only posted this one post and its been over a year, but this is a pretty common question, hope it helps someone else.

Just got my iPhone 3GS this past weekend and needed to set up my work email on my phone. Couldn't figure out how to get it working until I found your post - thanks a lot!

I ended up having my web master help me out it was so long ago. But thank you very much for answering my question. I searched the web every where & could not find it. I will keep this for the future.

:D

THANKS!

The key for me was the username should be the FULL EMAIL not just the name. And adding 'mail' to the host.com
