Throughout the day I constantly check Engadget and MacRumors on my iPhone and iPad (mostly iPhone), but I'm getting a little tired of it... I'm not sure what else to do on my iPhone though. I need ideas, maybe app suggestions, things you usually do on your phone when you need to waste some time, ect.

One thing though, I don't want game suggestions. There's something about gaming lately that's become really uninteresting to me.

I use my iPhone for everything:
- Real gaming (not those crappy mobile games like Angry Birds): Snes4iphone + wiimote
- Books: Goodreader app + PDF books
- Netflix / Crackle
- Internet surfing
- Music
- Talk to friends
- Facebook
- Groupon app for cool stuff to do around my area

What more could you possibly do?

Jailbreak it. You can try new themes, lockscreens, and tons of other apps that you may find useful.

Try a bunch of free games. Basically download the whole top-free list. Figure out what grabs your attention. I get addicted to a single game for a few weeks before moving on.

Once you find what kind of games you like, then go and buy better programs in that genre. But try the free ones first. You won't like all of them.

Games that held my attention for many weeks at a time:
Angry Birds (all 3 versions)
Yahtzee Adventure
Spite HD
Scrabble (Others enjoy Words with Friends)
Harbor Master
Galcon
Skee-Ball
DoodleJump
Bejeweled 2
Orbital
Trainyard
Diner Dash

Other non-game apps that I find useful/interseting:
Tweetbot (if you twitter...a good way to get stuck in your phone for awhile)
Instagram (it's like twitter but with photos instead of text)
Photogene and Diptic and TimeLapse (play with the camera!)
SoapBox (vidoes of a British comedian)
Netflix and Hulu Plus

Guess I should have explained more...

If he's unintersted in games I suspect he's playing the wrong ones. Hence, my advice to "try a bunch."

I often get bored with the games I have until I find totally different kinds. I played Galcon for what seemed like forever. Once I was bored with it I thought "I'm bored with games." Then I came across Spite HD (a card game). Suddnely I'm hooked. Turns out I wasn't bored with games, I was bored with fast-paced multiplayer attack-games.

I didn't know that until I tried other things.

I would suggest something that would be the cause for you to actually *use* the phone other than just sitting around becoming a mindless pile of flesh. Granted, I do that still at times too.
But get some photography apps, try those.
Get Instagram, its like twitter but only with pictures. Fun and easy as pie, and free.
If you've got time and transportation, look into some geocaching apps.
If you ride a bike ever, get one of those that record your trips on paths and trails. They'll even suggest other tracks you might like.
If you're a big news reader, get a news reader and subscribe to your fav sites.
Facetime with others that have it. It takes a few times to get used to it, but once you do you'll see how fun it is.
Make movies and use iMovie to edit them.

I'm not against any games or applications at all. I hope I haven't portrayed this. I just think that using your iPhone as an accessory to life, than using your iPhone as your main focus in life, is better.
