I need some help!

Hello everybody I recently have had some problems with my 2009 A1278 MacBook pro. I will try to explain the problem I have the best I can. About a year ago my battery started showing signs of wear, then about two months ago it started showing it needed to be replaced. The last time I used my MacBook the fan kicked in and immediately my Mac turned into turtle and was so slow that I couldn't do anything on it. Every time I started it after, it would do the same thing, start the computer and when the fan turns on it bricks the Mac. This problem prevents me from even logging on and running any programs or diagnostics. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried to start it up while being plugged into the charger?

Replace the battery yourself.
