My G4 Powerbook with 1 1/4 gb Ram kept locking up with that insipid spinning ball. I researched this and other forums looking for solutions. It all started after my son was playing HoboWars on Safari. I ran Disc Utility, Onyx, and TechTool Pro 5 trying to diagnose and solve the problem. I've been at it for 6 days. I have a ton of patience but I'm about to punch it in its face. I'm also purchasing new RAM in a few days. What I need are ideas on software that will prevent this from happening again. I have TechTool 5, & Little Snitch for maintenance and prevention. I use the Powerbook to run a small construction business on. I primarily use MS Word 04' and Gmail for bids, receipts, and communication with my customers. I would love any software suggestions and why you like the software.

I have a feeling there's a plug-in causing a browser hard lock. I don't see the need to purchase RAM for such an old machine. Does anything show up in the console logs? It probably just stops and starts again when you restart.

How do I check and read the console logs? I'm pretty new to mac.
