Ok, i have usually been against the whole engraving idea but i have come to like the idea of something on the back of my new iPod touch. Now please dont just flood this with posts on saying that engraving takes away resale value or that i should get my name and number if i loose it. I have come down to these choices for my touch. Some are pretty "random" (sorry i hate using that word but i had to)......

"...soon to be scratched"

"You look great!"

"Lick Here"

"wrong side"

what do you think? which one is the best?? -thanks.

None. Don't get engraving. Certainly nothing corny like those.

I hate to jump on the "don't engrave" bandwagon but it's like getting a bad tattoo. It's amusing at first and you'll just end up regretting it - seriously!

haha i like wrong side too you could also have "please turn over" or "PTO" hmm maybbeee

i admit some engravings can be terribly tacky...so i went for something that expressed what i like

and it's alright to not like engravings...but if you try to convince others to not engrave, you're just a spoil sport:p

Please don't do the "Stolen from..." I really thought that "wrong side" was the best and it made me chuckle as opposed to others.

Engraving pros and cons, there was just a thread about it. Pro, personalized and always going to be yours because you couldn't swallow the resale value dropping so much when you attempt to upgrade. Cons, it is like (and I said this in the other thread) getting personalized plates. It is cool this year, but next year you go walking out to your car and think "wtf was I thinking?" So yeah, get it, but I do believe that if I were looking for a used iPod and it was engraved, I wouldn't mind buying it if it said something impersonal but funny like "wrong side". Lick here would be funny if it were a picture of you or something. Otherwise it's kind of retarded...why lick an iPod anyway? I'm a fan of licking, but I draw the line there.

I am one that got it engraved

I have 4 teenage boys at home with an endless supply of their friends. I relize they could erase the data. My hopes was if it fell into one of their hands an honest parent might see it and look at the back for a name and number. My 2nd hope was they didn't scratch off the name and number :(

Oh well.. we will see

Wow... people don't get engravings because it damages the "resale value"? Cheapasses. Get one, love it, get bored of it, get another.

I say that to all of my dates. In that order.

You have two lines for the engraving, use them both. :)

Mine quite simply says... "Sanity is not statistical." It's a rather cool quote from 1984.
