Got my new iphone 4 and i am ready to sell my 3gs. Its running on the new ios4 should i sell as is or wait for an unlock and then sell. I dont wanna get scammed either so need some advice.

I don t think anyone will even offer on the phone until it is unlocked unless they live in your area and will use your carrier. Used to always be ATT but I have seen then unlocked on various carriers now.

Unlocked is the key I think! They are being sold for $149 new with service so take your cue from that I guess and go less?

alrighty cause i met this guy in line waiting for the iphone 4 and he had just sold his iphone 3gs for like $250 on ebay and it was not unlocked and he told me to just do a master sweep restore and sell with the sim

About 3-4 weeks ago average price on eBay was $300-350 some going even over $400. Now it is $250. Last time I've checked, unlocked phones were selling mostly $50 more but there is no rule for this.

so do you think i should just leave it as it is and put it up for sale around $150-$200 or is that to much?

eBay is where you'll likely get the most for it. I've seen them still going for a little over $300, so use a "buy it now" for like $325.00 and let people make offers on it. That's, if it's in great shape, you have the original box and all that.

I would ship to US only, accept paypal from "verified accounts" only, and make sure to ship with delivery confirmation and insurance.

Edit: Do NOT sell it for $150-200 unless it's in bad shape. You're selling it as a non-contract obligated item, so that's why you get more for it, than AT&T sells it for, new with contract. I just sold a white 3G for $225.

I sold my LOCKED iphone 3gs on craigslist a week before iphone 4 release.

Got $340 bucks for it.

the phone was only a week old

Depends on where you live. My coworker sold his black 16 gb 3gs on Tuesday for $300 and it was in "good" condition.

I'm going to list my 32 white 3GS for 350 and hope to get 320. That will make my upgrade free

Oh yeah. Using craiglist not eBay.
