What do you guys recommend? I'm going to put my previous years tax records, along with a couple other scanned documents, on the drive. I need it to be waterproof, since I live in an area prone to flooding. And secure, obviously, the drive needs to be secure as well.

Price is not a concern, I'm after "the best". What do you use? Any advice?

You probably want to think about offsite backup in addition to a thumbdrive.

Perhaps a safe that's rated for fire and water.

About security, make an encrypted disk image.

This is what I use for stuff I have to put on a USB key - but as others have said, a secure offsite backup is generally a better option. Unless it's your lambs in tutus porn fetish, in which case this is a nice solution.

Edit: I have no idea whether it's OS X compatible, I'm sure they have it in the specs. I do everything of any consequence under Windows these days.

For archive of sensitive documents, an easily misplaced, often unlabeled, high relative initial cost USB key is in my opinion a poor option compared to a password protected archive of encrypted files on a CD or DVD in your safe.
