I need to convert wmv so that i can EDIT on my Mac, not just view.

I'm new to Mac and it's all a bit beyond me - I do film production and bought this iMac (on credit..) for my belated final year.. I have footage on dvd that only comes up as some strange code on my Mac - the same happened when i tried to download it from my university site - i searched the forums and found the flip4mac, mactopia etc but as far as i can tell it would only let me view the file and not edit it.

Any clues?

Im now skint.

Any help is appreciated, i really want to get my film online but not as it is.

get yourself a copy of visualhub, convert the movie to AVI or MPG, and drop it into iMovie.

Should work.

ah, it only gives you the chance to convert 2 mins. My film is around 11 minutes
