that I can post to my site. Can some one suggest a program
that I can use to do this.

Garage Band. It was designed just for this kind of thing. And you already have it.

You will also need a microphone, mic cable and something to plug the mic into. And it helps to have a good space that is not acoustically reflective and quiet to record in.

You can hire this work out too. There are places where you send a script and they record it using a reasonably talented voice actor.

I checked out the garage band tutorials first
then started GB 08 on my computer and noticed that my
new GB project area does not have any of the choices shown in the tutorial
all i get is a keyboard and to be honest I do not have the time or the patience
to teach myself how to use GB. I want simple like an old fashioned tape recorder
push a button talk, record push a button to stop.

where can I get that as I am not going to up date GB from 08 to 09

I received a suggestion to get an app for my iPhone if I have one
(no I DO NOT, NOR WILL BE BUYING ONE ANY TIME SOON
as AT&T has very POOR service in my neighborhood and the fact that there is no bluetooth on the iPhone, and Its way too much money for a cell phone.
I just want a phone that makes calls, no pictures, no video, just phone calls
and voice mail, I don't even text but maybe four to five times a month
iPhone Waste of my money !!!!!!!!!!!

any how I found a program that works fine its called Record Pad
works great just what I was looking for.
