I bring my MacBook Pro (mid-2009) to work every day but it's getting hotter and hotter outside. Throughout the day my computer gets very hot, mostly when it's charging while begin used.
My first concern was that my battery wouldn't support the heat very well and may be messed up by the end of the summer. So I installed iStat Menus to check on the different temperature sensors in my computer and was somewhat surprised with the result: My battery temperature ranges between 86 and 88F (30-31°C), all day long, whether the computer is heating up or not.
The CPU temperature is usually 115-150F (45-65°C), and the different enclosure temperatures are usually around 95-115F (35-45°C).
Since the computer gets very hot on the outside, I'm wondering how the battery temperature can stay almost the same all day. Is it just very well protected and not affected by the heat? Or is iStat Menus wrong?
Anyway, I'd like your help. If you could try out iStat Menus and report your battery temperature (whether your computer is heating up or not), I could get an idea of what's going on. Thanks!
