So I just received on 5/31 a new 13”M2 MBA, and really wasn’t following and saw that the new 15” MBA today. I ordered one thinking I have time to send the 13” back. Same specs as the 15”. I really only use it for Quicken and a few other things. Not really sure I need the 15”. The 15” scheduled for delivery on 6/13 and I have until 6/14 to start the return process on the 13”. I may just cancel the 15”, but not sure. If this was you would you return the 13 or cancel the 15”

I would take the 15”. But since YMMV try them both.
Theres a reason why they sell it now in 2 sizes:)

It's a personal preference. If you're happy with the 13" screen then keep it. If you want something larger go 15".... simple really. Only you can decide.

13" is too small for me and I've held out all these years for a large screen MBA. I bought a MBA in 2012 but returned it because the screen was too small.

Once you start the return, don’t you have 2 weeks to send it back?! That would give you several days to compare.

That could solve your dilemma. Or, you could return the 13” one and order another one timing it to arrive with the 15”….

I have a 16" MBP M1 (32/1GB) that I should never have purchased (I really do not need it). I ordered the" 15" MBA yesterday evening (16/512). With the Mil Disc, credit for Apple Care+ on the 16, and the $1320 Trade in of 16" putting it on Apple Card it was close to a wash (well close as to about a $350 wash). I also have a M2 MBA 13" that has been the "go to machine" since getting it. Having 2d thoughts now and may just cancel the 15".

So as stated above I canceled the 15”, now my question is the since the 13” went down by $100.00 I wonder if Apple will refund that. I guess I can return the 13” that’s 1 week and rebuy it, but that’s a pain in the ass.

Not sure the details on that price drop, but per Apple:

Should Apple reduce its price on any Apple-branded product within 14 calendar days from the date you receive your product, feel free to visit an Apple Retail Store or contact the Apple Contact Center at 1-800-676-2775 to request a refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current selling price. To receive the refund or credit you must contact Apple within 14 calendar days of the price change. Please note that this excludes limited-time price reductions, such as those that occur during special sales events, such as Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Source

I would simply call or chat with Apple Store for the definitive answer on whether you can get the credit. I assume they'll honor it.

I thought about moving to the 15" but I love my 13" so much. The size is perfect for traveling, its so light and its fine for web browsing, MS word etc. Looking back I wish I upgraded to a 1 TB instead of the keeping it stock. I have the 8/10 with 16 gigs of ram.

As someone with the 16' MBP the screen is AMAZING - every time I use it. BUT traveling with that thing is a huge pain, even just having it in my backpack.

So while the screen is nice, the mobility ain't all that great.
Yes this. I have the M1 Max 16" that was intended to be my everything machine, but it's so big and heavy that it really never leaves my desk... I'm actually rethinking my computer needs at this point. The Air (I have the 13" M2 now with the 15" on the way) is amazingly portable and capable, I'm sure the 15" will fit my needs perfectly. I think for my desk at home where my MBP is I will end up with a Mac mini and a giant monitor at some point when I replace the MBP.

Yep, my 16' MBP spends most of its time connected to my 4k monitor on my desk.

lol. For work I have a 14' MBP and ... that is really really nice. So if I need to go somewhere (for work at least), I can take that.

And yes, I was thinking the same thing maybe a Mini or Studio is what I should be looking at in the future, with a MBA for mobile lol. Obviously, the 16' should last a long time (M1 Max here too). :D

For old people like me the bigger screen is necessary 😜

Do we know for sure that the text, menus, etc. will be larger on the 15”?

Given that it’s screen resolution is higher, the resulting sizes on the screen might even be smaller!

Plus, the GUIs of OSs and apps keep shrinking. I think this could be the result of developers using HUGE monitors and designing and testing their software on them. When we see them on the much smaller screens of laptops, it's a case of “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!”

Hence, I wonder…

OTOH, in his brief hands-on review of the 15”, Dan Ackerman said the display elements were bigger, and he didn’t need to use the zoom (as much?). That's good news!

However, it will be interesting to see if regular aging, eyeglass-wearing, or visually challenged Mac users agree!

Wondering if the new 2023 15" MacBook Air M2 is going to be a faster machine than a 2021 16" MacBook Pro M1?

MBP = 10 Core/16GPU 16/512
New MBA = Core/10GPU 8/512 for the same price (or +$200 for the 16GB RAM version)
That depends on what you are doing with it.

Example - web browsing is faster on my M2 machine than my M1P machine. Benchmarks show it as well.

That said, I'd never pay one dime to upgrade either my M1P or M1M machines to M2. They are fantastic and plenty fast enough.

Primary uses - tethered high resolution photography/Sony+Lightroom, Photoshop CC Desktop, future audio/studio multitrack recording w/Logic Pro X and lots of virtual instruments/plug ins.

I think I have my answer according to the replies (thanks!) - stick to the MacBook Pro M1!
