I really need help unlocking my iPhone 2g (it will not enter DFU mode)

As the title says, every time I get to the process of unlocking my iPhone and it prompts me to go into DFU mode, it just won't do it.

I'm using redsn0w 0.9.4 along with the 3.1.2 restore. I upload the proper files and do everything it says but when I'm supposed to go to DFU, nada.

My iPhone is on 3.1.3 and I'm doing this on a Windows 7 machine. iTunes isn't installed.

Now I feel silly for not realizing the missing piece of the puzzle haha. Thanks for the iTunes install, now to uninstall it because I don't use this machine.

Currently, my iPhone is flashing the baseband, this is taking a while...
