I returned my AirPods Pro 3, because the touch controls in the stem were extremely unreliable. Squeezing/touching the stem to to play/pause or adjust volume or switch between transpatency/nc modes only works 20% of the time. I've never had such issue with Pro 1 or Pro 2s.

Apple Store explained that this is because Pro 3's have changed the location of the proximity sensor that determines whether the touch controls should be enabled. And because of the updated overall design, the buds sit differently in the ear and apparently the sensor thinks that the buds are not fully inside my totally regular ears and so the touch controls get disabled.

Interestingly, Pro 3's have a second proximity sensor to determine whether to automatically play/pause when earbuds are in/out of ears.

TBH I'm very dissapointed in Apple, such a sloppy design change, I'm very sad. Will stick to Pro 2s.

I wear AirPods all day long for work (usually the 4s) - I could never get the APP2s to work for me but I am very happy they work for y'all - I can't imagine life without AirPods. (Swapping between my work Mac, personal Mac, iPhone, Watch for exercise, etc) :D. These things are amazing.

My wife and I got APP3s yesterday and we've been pretty astounded/happy with them. Not at all to rain on your thread - I am happy the APP2s work for you - I will continue to use mine too as they are an amazing amazing headset. :D

The live translation is pretty cool.

I'm returning mine as well.

Been using them since yesterday and the fitment, despite the different size tips, are hurting my ears. I'll keep the AirPods Pro 2 which fit nicely and I can wear all day without any issues.
Yeah they are a terrible update, sound worse and anc is worse for me and they hurt the ear drum and bigger size case, Apple loves the updates that make products worse

Just got the Pro 3 and have to say they are the best fitting ear buds I have ever tried. Everything else used to fall out of my left ear for some reason, but these fit, hold, and don't hurt at all after a while. Sound is great too. Great upgrade for me...
I'm used to the medium tip on my APP2. The 3's come with the medium tip on. It felt a bit tight, tried the small tips and were more comfortable and still sounded great. If yours feel too tight, try the small tips.

Of course, you are entitled to your "opinion". But your opinion runs so counter to what the vast majority think, that I have to discredit your opinion.

Your statement that "Apple loves the updates that make products worse" is so nonsensical that it reinforces your lack of credibility. You are now just bashing Apple out of anger that almost no one agrees with you. Please, please return your APP3 and post in the AAP2 threads. Thanks.

I am leaning toward returning P3 and keeping P2. What tests are others using to clarify the sounds of music and/or movies?
My hearing is imperfect, but I search for a clean base sound. Tests so far include Petra and Stryper, plus the 2019 movie "Midway".

Personally for me the fit and feel is slightly better, I’ve worn them most of the day today, which has involved using them as hearing aids, listening to a bit of music and connected to my Apple TV. I’m not an audiophile so only really care if they sound good rather than going into every string and drumbeat (like the guy on the YouTube video above😃). I wear mine a lot for work connected to my Mac for Teams calls etc and when I’m not on calls they switch back to being hearing aids. Hopefully the extra battery life will be valuable. In a nutshell not returning mine 😃.

Same here, I listened to them for like 4 hours last night and I was very impressed. They certainly don’t replace proper over-ear headphones but for what they are they seem to be quite good. A massive upgrade from the APP1 imo. Those always sounded meh to me at best. YMMV, apparently!

Team medium to small tips. That said like many others the app2 fit perfectly. Theres def some pressure with the 3s but there is a notable sq bump.

The 3 fit me so much better. Battery now is an 830-5 battery instead of 830-2. Very happy here coming from app 2
