I scanned some documents for a client awhile ago now they say they are .text clipping

I scanned these documents to PDF on a Windows machine now the customer says that in their Mac some of the files are named .textclipping are they dragging the files into a program or did they somehow corrupt?

.textClipping files are created by selecting text and dragging it in a Finder window (most commonly on the Desktop).
