iPod I Screwed Up My Ipod, Help!!!

I did something very dumb. I installed ipod linux on my 5g apple video ipod (60 gb). ipodlinux.org does not give any support for this. Whenever I turn on the ipod, the apple logo appears, the folder icon appears and then my ipod turns off. When I connect the ipod an older version of the "do not disconnect" logo appears. My ipod does not load in my itunes. I can still safely remove the hardware but that doesn't do any good. For some reason it doesn't show in My Computer (it is enabled to disk use). The ipod updater doesn't do my any good. It "can't mount" the ipod. Do you have any idea what I should do, I can't send it back to ipod because breaks the warranty limitations. Please help!

You could probably send it back to Apple, but it would cost you.

However, I'm sure having them repair it is cheaper than buying a new one in the event that you have no other options

Well, they have forums. Did you post your problem there?
