I just purchased a new iPhone SE 2022 (can't have flickering screens, so I couldn't get any of the new models).
I put in the sim card, configured the phone, then made contact with my old iPhone (SE) to transfer the data but I was told I needed to upgrade to IOS 26. I couldn't get past that screen, so I clicked ok. But it took forever and there was no progress bar, nothing, just a spinning cogwheel, so after a couple of hours I interrupted whatever was going on and I should not have done that because now the phone is totally messed up and I don't know how to fix it.
What I see is the inlog screen for a brief moment (where you type in your pin code to unlock the phone) and then it's covered by the welcoming screen from a new iPhone, saying "hello" in all the different languages. At the bottom it tells me I need to press the Home button. Doing so shows me the inlog screen for the briefest moment after which the welcoming screen is back. There is no way to get access to that inlog screen.
There is also an info (i) button in the lower right corner that when clicked shows me the SN and IMEI.
I downloaded an app called Apple Configurator, connected the iPhone to the Mac but the app doesn't see the iPhone.
I tried for the longest time to turn the phone off and couldn't do it, no matter what, because the slider too appeared for just a split second so there's no way you can swipe. I went online to look for ways to shut off an iPhone with just the buttons. Didn't work. Sometimes it did seem to turn off as the screen went dark and the Apple logo appeared. And then we were back to the same crap. So it seems it rebooted on those occasions.
It's funny, I was making a little video of what the phone does now and trying again to shut it off, I did! I'm not even sure how I did it but I somehow managed to get a grip on the slider and apparently swiped it enough to have the phone shut down.
I want to turn it back on but I'm afraid to do so. I know that rebooting often solves problems, but I'm quite sure the phone did reboot once or twice and it didn't solve anything.
So, what do you think? A trip to a Genius bar?
Here's a short clip of how it looks: Screen is locked and I can't get access (I removed the sim card again to put back in my old phone)
