I simply want to video chat w/gchat clients outside of gmail...possible?

I dont want to leave a window open with gmail so that I can video chat with gchat clients.

I tried iChat/Jabber, but it only lets me message them normally.

Am I doing something wrong? If not, are there any other apps that let you video chat with gchat contacts while not in gmail?

I have 2011 MBP.

Look for apps that support "jingle". That's the open API that Google uses for multimedia chat extensions.
