I've just been to the post office to send off my original 8GB iPhone. I had firmware 2.0 on it and I unlocked it and put it on eBay. Final price was £199.99, which is more than the £159 I paid for a 16GB iPhone 3G. I'm very happy about this, because it has covered the cost of me buying a new iPhone plus the dock (which Apple really should have included in the box!)

How did everyone else get on selling their original iPhones?

well, after having 3 nigerian scammers trying to buy mine, I too sold it for £200, several weeks ago
running 1.1.4 though

i sold my 4GB iPhone i bought on june 29th last year for $412

So i think i still hold the record :p

Just sold it, including the headset for £220.00, after a couple of scams which delayed the sale a week.

Wow, I think I got a really good deal here. Sold my original iPhone on eBay and it went for £238 (~$476)! :D The way I see it, I paid £30 to hire the iPhone for 8 months! Not bad :D And I got paid £80 to upgrade to the iPhone 3g :D:D:D

This is one more reason to buy Apple products. There always seems to be high resale value. I just sold my 1st gen 8GB iPhone (with 2.0) for $335 on ebay. Paid for my new 16GB 3G completely.
