So... the screen dimmed after a certain amount of time, and when I went to use the phone again, it didn't "re-brighten"...

I had to go into the settings and adjust the brightness slider, at which point it lit up again fine.

I don't know if this is 3.0 in general, or if this is 3GS specific.
I tried searching here for this, but I couldn't find any similar threads.

Happens a lot to me, especially when I'm playing a game just after waking it up from sleep.
It eventually corrects itself and every time I'm like "ooohh, now i can SEE things"

I think the light sensor isnt all that smart in some situations.

same

This is happening to me too.

Is the auto brightess setting OFF?

I have mine off, and just now when I go to pick it up after a few minutes, the brightness is down, but I have to do into settings to tap on the brightness sliders to get ANY brightness to come back.

this is wrong,

My 3G does that, and sometimes it brightens much more then it was previously even if the lighting level had not changed.

I saw it using 2.X on my 3G as well. All I had to do before was lock the screen and then unlock it and it seemed to always fix it.

I think you can disable it by turning Auto-Brightness off. Not sure though.

I can get sound for incoming calls but on the ipod, when playing a track or video there is no sound and the sound bar has gone!
In settings under ipod there doesn't seem to be anything wrong - so what has been disabled - any help appreciated.

i had the issue this morning in and out of office and it took a sec to change over....i think its a 3.0 bug.

You might have the ringer volume up and the regular speaker volume down. Try using the volume buttons in the iPod app.
