Hi, a couple a weeks ago I bought the new iPad Air M3 to replace my old and trusty iPad from 2019 but now I am having regrets and I’m thinking to buy the 11” pro too.

The new air in itself is night and day compared to my old iPad but battery is a bit disappointing. I don’t game or edit on the iPad just regular use, lot of browsing, emails, media, etc.

I know the pro is an overkill for my use case but I have read in many Reddit post that battery is better on the M4 pro compared to the M3 air and also I love the 120hz screen and oled (I own iPhone 16 pro)

So just out of curiosity would you replace the new air for the M4 pro if money was not a problem and maybe try to sell the air later? Cheers

I don’t have the M4 version so cannot comment. But I do have the M1 version with a magic keyboard and it is a fantastic set up along with the incredible OLED screen. But battery life seems very good and I would assume the M4 Pro would be as good if not better.

Can you return the M3 Air or are you too late (or bought from a retailer/channel who wouldn’t accept a return anyway?) If you are able to return, it just costs you whatever the upgrade cost is which is better than regretting not having the luxuries later. If you’re stuck with the M3 and have to sell it on, you’ll take a hit on resale.

The OLED Pro has been out for nearly a year, so it might be worth waiting (usually not much more than a year and half between upgrades.) But if the M4 Air comes out at the same time, there’d be another hit on value there.

That's weird because Apple advertises the same battery life for both the M3 Air and M4 iPad Pro. I know you said that you don't game much, but I would figure that in just standard use, web browsing, etc. the Air and iPad Pro should get very similar battery use.

Battery is poor for not-so-heavy usage? I do wonder, is brightness high? Battery life shouldn’t be poor with light to moderate usage. The iPad Pro might have a slightly better battery life than the Air (I don’t know because the only Pro I’ve tried is the 9.7-inch), but not enough so as to make a trade worth it. My Air 5 is excellent with light use. Yours should be, too! (Unless brightness is too high).
