so i just bought a macbook literally twenty minutes ago. I haven't opened it yet and now i read that there might be an update to them. Should I go return it, or dig into it, any advice?

No one can tell what Apple might do, but MacBook's (according to the buyers guide) are mid cycle and not due for updates yet.

Product: MacBook
Recommendation: Neutral - Mid product cycle
Last Release: November 01, 2007
Days Since Update: 116 (Avg = 199)

MBPs are overdue so everyone believes it will be those. I too am hoping :)

Really though, both the MBs and MBPs are excellent machines in their current state.

Or you can just wait till tommorow and see if there is an unexpected update before you open it, then exchange it. if not then just open it. I just got a 2.2ghz White Macbook and it is awesome!

Don't worry about it, go ahead and enjoy it. If somehow they would be updated (unlikely), you could always return within 14 days and switch for the new one.

There is going to be a new machine, car, food, movie, etc.

Either stop waiting and enjoy, or spend your life on the sidelines watching others have all the fun.

New purchase of MacBook

I would have thought it was obvious that the basic MB (with Combo drive + maxed out RAM + Epson printer + carrying case) is the greatest buy in the Apple universe at $1,150(MacMall.)

Enjoy your new Mac!!

I've had mine for just over a month and I love it.

i feel the same way. my amazon blackbook is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. from the looks of things, there's a 50/50 chance it's going to get shipped back to amazon on wednesday

where is this news that the mb's are going to be updated? unless i'm mistaken its the mbp!

i'm in the market for a new mb!

Enjoy your new machine. The macbook is an excellent machine. The only thing I would want them to change is the screen (go to LED) and the keyboard (go with a backlit one).

as soon as I saw the new macbooks this morning, I thought of this thread. I hope the OP didn't open the box. (BTW: who buys a new computer and doesn't rip it open immediately when they get home?)
