Well, I bought the new 12.9” iPad Pro and white Magic Keyboard. I have a Logi Slim folio Pro keyboard from my 2018 iPad pro. This new one fits in it, but barely (new one is 1MM thicker or something Like that). I like the color and the trackpad, but I think I have less typing mistakes on my foli Pro. The keys are different and spaced more on the folio despite the magic keyboard having bigger keys. I don’t need the trackpad either. But, I went for this since this was supposed to be the thing to have.

Also, When in certain light, since the keys are white and the letters white when lit up, you can’t see them at all. They kind of washout. I’m not a pro typist, so I just don’t know the keys without looking at them. I think I should of bought the black one. But, It is nice, super well built. I will give it that for sure. For 350.00, I’m not if I’m super happy, which i should be.

I wish they could an easy way to turn the backlight off when I’m in certain light. But, it is first world problems. Just when you spend alot of money, You really hope it will be an awesome experience.

Anyone else have thoughts like this, or am I the only one thinking this. I want to love this thing, and I’m trying. I like i can remove the iPad easily and it is a beautiful piece of gear.

If Logitech comes out with the slim folio pro with magnetic back for the new iPad, I’m buying that Lol.

If you just recently bought it, I recommend just returning it
Yea, Ive been using it for over a month. Ive been trying to really get to like it more. I just wanted to see what everyone thinks about their usage with this keyboard. I can always sell it. I’m not giving up yet.

There have been other similar reports on the forum. Return it while you can. Trying to convince yourself in liking a product that doesn't check all the boxes is asking for a lot of frustration down the road.
I appreciate that. It’s too late. I can only sell it. So, I will see how it goes. I know I won’t get my money back. I’ll have to see if I can change how I use it when these things come up. Not the end of the world, just good for a discussion.

If you are lucky the leather material will tear and fray at the edges as some owners have experienced and you will get a replacement from Apple. If so, insist on a black one.

Got apple care on it? If it breaks or you have an accident and they replace it, you can then sell it on eBay as brand new. Though I’m not sure it will break any time soon sorry… unless you accidentally spill a tea or coffee on it yikes

First and foremost: learn to type blind, 10 fingers, reasonable speed at least. Its not much fun to learn, but will make life much easier. My best investment has been my drivers license (a bit of a thing here, not that easy) but a blind typing course on an old mechanical typewriter (East-German machine Erica, cheap and NOT cheerful) has been my second best investment. There are several websites and apps that are free where you can learn to type.

I have a love hate relationship with my iPad Magic Keyboard as well. My 2018 iPP 11” is half a laptop with the keyboard and every bit iPad without. I can attach it and lift it off again with one hand. I can type blind and at almost full speed even though it is not full sized. I even gave a way my folio keyboard because I didn’t use it. Wear is still minor after a good year of daily use. And the trackpad is delight when working in Word/Excel.
But the weight, it is horrible, the bloody iPMK weights more then my iPP itself. It’s more then doubling the weight!
The horror!! 🧛‍♂️

What I wanted to say is that the iPMK is a compromise. My iPad became much more versatile, but still isn’t a laptop. It’s stable but heavy, it’s really good to type on but not full sized.
Fact is that most things in life are a compromise. Its just that the trade offs here are nagging us a bit more then we would like.

The one massive bug bare i have with mine is there are no functions keys. So no shortcuts to adjust brightness and volume. Keys i use all the time on my off brand but keyboard.

Hehe, that aren’t bugs for me :)
Brightness is automatic and always spot on and I never have my sound on. Unless I’m using my airpods Max, but then I’m using the dial on that. (Love my APM’s, love the construction, love the noise canceling! Noise canceling on my XM3’s got me nauseous and irritated within 10 minutes. And the huge amount of plastic on the XM3’s always made me a bit sad. But then again, the price on these APM’so_O).

But nevertheless I do have to say I was surprised there wasn’t a shortkey/shortcut for these in iPadOS 15.

that’s sounds awesome tbf, I’m glad you’ve got no probs with it! :)
I am very sensitive to everything so auto brightness I’m always turning down. And sounds, well, every day sounds like vacuums, coughing, machines etc. I have to cover my ears! So embarrassing lol

Don’t think this expensive accessory has AppleCare support. Heck, “cheaper” AirPods Pro has AppleCare.

I know you said you loved your Slim Folio Pro, but was the new Logitech Combo Touch in the running?

Any iPad Apple-branded keyboards are covered under the iPad's Applecare+. You can add them to your AC+ policy by calling the Applecare Administration Team via the main support number.

I got apple care on mine as the guy in the shop said it covers accessories if i bought them at the same time

You don't even need to have bought them at the same time according to the AC Admin team member I spoke with. As long as you have an active iPad AC+ plan, the keyboard and Pencil are covered.

Yes, I could do that. I’m going to see how I fair with it.

I did not want that because of the kickstand. I need to much space to use it. If the slim folio pro 5th gen is released and it has a magnetic backing with the same keyboar, that to me would be perfect. I love how this Magic keyboard looks and feels. I’m just seeing these short comings on my side. I’m sure most people do not have these issues.

If I had a black one, it would most definitely help with the typing. All of my keyboards here are black with white lettering with the exception of this one. I know one member said to learn to type blind. Yea, I will certainly try lol. I’m just a regular person that types.

I truly appreciate that and I will look into it. Not just for this keyboard, but others as well.

You can set up a shortcut to take you directly to the iPad Keyboard backlight. It becomes literally one click to change the brightness. Might be worth trying that and see if that helps you.

I assume US only? Don’t see any mention on AU apple page.
