I think it's just the on-screen keyboard

but a few days ago, I noticed a small square, calendar-type icon with an asterisk in it next to the day/date/time/name on the top right of my MBP screen. It shows an on-screen keyboard upon selecting it, but I want to know if I can get rid of it, since I didn't knowingly put it there to begin with. No big deal, just wondering what it's doing chillin' out there suddenly, and if I can remove it. Thanks!
