i think itunes lost a backup i created?

created a backup before restoring but it is not listed in the menu of backup restore points. i checked the MobileSync folder (windows xp and its itunes v9.0.3) containing the backups and while there are several folders, none of the dates "created on" (in properties) have the most current backup date that i made. i did make a backup. itunes went through all the usual motions of making a backup, but now the folder seems to be missing... any ideas on where this folder could be, how to find/access it, or what happened with it?? thanks
