So after booting the tower up after a night of it being off, the clocks were resert to before 2001, the usual drill, a password was no longer required to exit from the screensaver, I ended up rebooting, zapping the PRAM, and then did a full backup.

Since then I've not powered down fully, and I've ordered in a brand new replacement 3.6V battery from the UK over eBay. Hoping this will fix the problem, other than than, trying not to power off more than necessary lest something weird happen.:apple:

I considered using a secondhand one I had lying around, pulled from another PPC mac, but decided that I might as well spend a few dollars and get a brand shiny new one for my G5 tower since it's the machine I do 95% of my stuff on.
