So just recently (as of today) my beloved iphone 3gs decided to go haywire on me. The top button does not do anything when pressed, so i cannot take my phone into standby mode. So the other thing that that means, is that I cannot actually turn off the phones power. Another thing that it officially started today was that I cannot make calls. Whenever I try to make a phone call it says that it is on EDGE and then the E goes away and the call says "failed". Each and everytime I try to make a phone call it does that... Pretty annoying.

So what are some things that could have gone wrong with it? or should I just skip this step and take the hassled trip up to the Apple store?
