I think my mac mini (1.66GHz CD, 512MB etc etc) has just died. I was using it as normal, as a home cinema, and it froze. Software I thought, so I did a manual restart. Now all I get is a grey screen and it keeps 'bonging'. I think this could be a ram issue.

Any advice, or is that a trip to my friendly mac shop?

Hold SHIFT at start up to try to get into Safe Mode. If that doesn't work, try booting onto the OSX disc by inserting it and holding C at start up. :)

Tried those, no joy. Although it has stopped 'bonging' it just bongs once and goes into the grey screen.

You can't even boot form the CD/DVD? Okay, well try booting and hold COMMAND-S to get into Single User Mode. Remember to hold these key combinations immediately after pressing the power button and keep them depressed until after you hear the POST (start up bong sound). :)
