As above really, coming from a 2011 to the new 2012, there is definitely more of a 'sub' presence, whether they have just tuned it out a bit more I don't know, but they are better!!

I can confirm the speakers on the 2012 13" MBP are louder (although no change in quality IMHO) compared with a 2008 Al MB and a 2010 13" MBP.

I prefer MagSafe 2 (and old MagSafe 1 with a T-shape connector) because, unlike the L-shape version, it actually disconnects easily enough to stop the laptop from being pulled off a desk.

Ya I noticed from my dad 2011 that my 2012 cMBP does sound a little bit better. But I never use them any way haha got great external speakers.

The Retina Macbook Pro should definitely sound better/different. The Classic MBP should sound the same or very similar to previous models from the Unibody era.

Sorry for bringing this up from the dead. Playing the same song at max volume and settings between the Mid 2012 and Mid 2010 15 inch models, I notice a better bass quality on the Mid 2012. It does sound more deep while the Mid 2010 had just a put-put sound for bass.

I've never actually compared speakers on any of my Mac's as I'm always using headphones, but my new 13" rMBP delivers today. Since I was so torn between the two screens, I'm going to use it for a week for all tasks, including music work, so will take a look later. I'm not sure I've noticed any difference in speaker quality on my new Imac though.

You should compare it to the 15" rMBP speakers. I was surprised how rich the audio was in comparison to the cMBP.
