But it was previously jailbroken.

why does apple need beefcake hardware to do something that has been done on every other iPhone?

weird my 3G has it, but i cant find it in the settings either

If you were jailbroken previously, and had enabled the hack for percentage and then backed up your phone, that setting is now in your backups. Even if you weren't using the battery percentage before 3.0, enabling it now places the percentage next to the battery. Restoring from a backup enabled it for those who were jailbroken previously on a 3G. If you do not have the option to turn it on and off, you got it from a JB setting.

i had it JB but the % used to be within the green battery bar and i thought this is how the official apple % sign looks like? did they just copy some JB-dudes work?

Ok now look at it from Apple's point of view.

As a company, would you want to include it in new hardware to boost sales or include it on all iPhone's and not make as much money?

Think hard.

actually not being up in the clouds and being a pretty modest man, i would think about the money and sales that got me where i was and wouldnt leave them in the dust, surely the camera, compass, video and hardware boost are enough to entice a loyal customer, a percentage meter shouldve been a no brainer.

It's stupidly 3GS only. The 3GS has bigger features like voice control to differentiate it. Nobody's going to upgrade just for the battery meter.

It should be under Settings > General > Usage

hey guys... just a quick thought... if you look at the pics from the iPhone 3GS on the Apple site, none of them show the % either... so...

I found out about the %, on engadget.com, on the pictures from the review.

I have it. Yes mine was jailbroken. But I restored my phone 2 weeks ago for this. I have a 3G

It doesn't matter, it gets saved in your backup, unless you start over fresh and you do not restore your data, it will come back.

On the 3G there is a switch in the About section of the phone, on every other iPhone there is not. If you have the % right now, you got it from a jailbreak option.

Go to Settings>General>Usage

Is there an option to change it there? i've seen pics of it being there.

It is not accessible on my 2G.
