iPod touch I transfered my ipod touch songs to my new mac but..

So i just bought a new mac and i wanted to transfer all my itunes library from my windows xp to my new mac . I tried to follow the directions but im not smart when it comes to computers so that way didnt work . Then i tried burning everything to a blank dvd but that didnt work . So i did the transer ipod songs from your ipod to your mac . And that was easy and it worked . But it didnt transfer my photos or apps . What should i do ? Thanks
 
Hold on i just heard about the new home sharing feature . Will that be my solution ?
