I want an iPhone 3G

But I'm stuck in a contract with Tmobile for another year. My phone is a POS Motorola W490 which is already dying. My iPod touch has convinced me to get an iPhone, to get internet everywhere. What is the cheapest way I can get an iPhone?

Any way around the Tmobile ETF?

I was in this guys same boat I started t-mobile service and jailbroke an iPhone. The t-Mobile service in New Hampshire was terrible plus my iPhone wouldn't receive texts from US Cellular customer and t-mobile did nothing they charged me an early term fee... i went thru level 3 techs 4 times.

you could do what I did- call T-Mobile's executive customer care. this department is a totally separate one from the regular customer service. I called them and explained to them that I didn't get good service where i lived and that i was basically wasting my money with them ( in reality it wasn't that bad). Basically they waived the fee for three lines, saving me $600. PM me if you want the number for their Executive Customer Service.

Thanks,
Jay

I'm pretty sure you only have 4 options.

1. Join the military. (they have to let you off then)
2. Unlock an iphone and use it with T-Mobile
3. Roam so that 51% of your calls are in roaming for atleast 3 months. They will most likely kick you off then
4. Pay the early termination fee and leave

My problem is that my line is in a family plan with my parents, uncle, and grandparents. Im thinking about moving just my line to AT&T, or getting rid of my line, and creating it again to get the G1. Does the ETF cost less for just one line?

There's also the 5th option: Die. That'll get you out of your contract :D
