I want HBO in HD on iTunes!! What's the hold up??

HBO is very protective of their content.
Most of their series and original programming aren't available on Blu-ray either despite having aired in HD.
As to why they don't offer series already released on DVD and Blu-ray in iTunes HD, I don't know. There were articles several months ago about HBO wanting a different pricing model for their TV shows compared to other studios. Of course, we have no idea what Apple worked out with them.
Showtime has recently switched to offering HD versions of their series. So, maybe that'll push them a long.
We'll likely never get the current seasons on iTunes the day after they air because HBO doesn't want to undercut their premium cable subscriptions.
