I want the .jpg and exentsions to appear auto

Hello,
I have been having issues with .jpg extensions showing on file names when I save the files to my desk and export them to a windows machine I need to keep manually entering the .jpg How do i tell os 10.4.x to do that automatically I want to see the extensions.

Click on "Finder" (next to the Apple logo), click preferences, click advanced.
