I will be traveling in our motor home for about a month. I do not want to take my original movie DVD's so I would like to make copies of them so the originals don't get lost or damaged. I have used HandBrake, but it makes mpg-4 files and copies them to iTunes to play them. Also the mpg-4 files will not play on the TV player or the small DVD player that we have. I do not have enough space on my Hard drive for, say 20 movies, even though the mpg-4 files are only about 1GB.

I have also used MacTheRipper in the past, but some of the movies would not play back on all devices. I admit that I didn't know much about using it.

Any suggestions ?

An alternative is, put them in iTunes, on an iPod, and play them that way, with an adaptor if needed. That way, you can carry several. Making back ups of legit movies, is difficult, though not impossible, but is iffy to me. ;)
